We’ve Lost Some Weight!

Normally, weight loss is a good thing. (It certainly is when it’s my weight. :-))  But this is about carry on weight, specifically, how much we’ll each be allowed to carry onto the charter flight from Buenos Aires to Ushuaia.

Back in June, I reported that Lindblad had told us our carry ons could weigh no more than 17.6 pounds per person; in fact, this number was printed right there in our Expedition Guide.  As I said back then, this limit presented some challenges, given that you never want to put your electronics, camera gear, or other valuables in your checked luggage.

Well, sometime between June and now, the already tough-to-meet carry on weight limit decreased to 12 pounds!  Yikes!  I’ve been assured this limit does not include a purse and a camera in a “normal sized camera bag.”  But still, this will be difficult, and will require some thought and planning well before we embark on this journey.

The only good news, in terms of baggage, is that I learned this week from United that on our flights to and from Argentina, MP and I will be allowed to check without charge a total of 3 bags weighing no more than 70 pounds each (thank you, business class).

We’ll make it work, somehow.   We have to!  🙂

  1. Oh Boy! This will make my husband nuts!! He’s been known to carry only camera gear and wear the same pair of shorts and tee for a week! That’s not gonna be possible on an antarctic cruise;-) Will be following your blog as you make this journey!

  2. […] guess what?! After all the grief that Lindblad had put us through over weight limits for our carry on bags on the charter, NO ONE […]
